Has spinning made a comeback? Or did it never really go out of style?

Thanks to boutique fitness studios like SoulCycle and FlyWheel, the indoor cycling game has come on strong in the past few years. But spin is no longer about just climbing hills to your go-to playlist; it’s a full-body workout that incorporates weight lifting, choreography, and—oh yeah—even more hill climbing. Studios are even incorporating things like stadium seating, disco lights, TV screens, and heart-rate calculators.

With all of that said, we recently got the chance to pop into the TEAMride studio in Midtown for a workout led by not just one but two fabulous instructors. Elena and Michelle lead the Saturday-morning class and guided us through a unique ride, with one of them on the bike and the other on the mic. The energy in the room was unlike any other spin or boutique- fitness class we’ve taken.

Although not all of their classes are led by two instructors, it doesn’t take away from the experience. The level of fire that the TEAMride instructors carry is consistent, whether you go at 5 a.m. or 7 p.m. And either way, we think you’ll go back for the endorphin rush and intense (but satisfying) full-body workout.
Just in case you’re curious, here are some of the classes that they offer:

  • TEAMride is their signature 45-minute full-body workout that’s offered seven days a week. It’s a basic spin class that incorporates upper body and core work to tone and burns calories.
  • TEAMride Intro Series is a three-part series that’s offered once a month. It consists of two 60-minute instructional sessions on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, followed by a class on Saturday. This series gives riders a thorough introduction to the TEAMride experience and is highly recommended for anyone new to spin.
  • Outdoor Ride is a Summer series that merges outdoor rides with food trucks and alcohol vendors. So yeah, it’s a little more than just a ride.

All classes begin with a basic warm-up and music to get your body movin’ and groovin’. Then the real fun begins. Each 45-minute session will definitely leave your shirt soaked and your legs shaking. But it’s all for the love of calorie burning, sweating, and the fact that you can get in, out, and on with your day.

So, why do we keep coming back to TEAMride? We love the community and pure exercise high. If you like to sweat and truly want to have fun while working out, give it a try.
