Sacramento is experiencing a season of growth. New spots are popping up every month and we are in a constant state of heart eyes. Need a new barber? Looking for a different twist on your favorite sushi roll? Hunting for the perfect men’s shop? Researching new spots is rough work but we’ve put together a little guide to some of our favorite new kids on the block.

Fish Face Poke Bar

Poke and sake and hand rolls, oh my!

Billy Ngo, Executive Chef and Owner of Kru, opened this Hawaiian poke oasis a few months back and it’s safe to say Sacramento welcomed the fresh seafood salads with open arms.

The Chipotle-like ordering system allows guests to enjoy the quality of Kru in a fraction of the time, making it an ideal lunch spot. Make sure to grab a Suiyoubi No Neko White Ale for now and a hand roll for later.

Scout Tip: We sat down with Billy to record our very first podcast and he shared his favorite combo with us. Write this down folks as this is Fish Face done right: Ahi tuna, sesame soy, arare, avocado.

Jason Maxwell, owner of Oak Park Men’s Supply, is no stranger to retail. After opening and running a few shops in San Jose, the lack of men’s shops in Sacramento inspired Jason to finally open the shop of his dreams.

Intentionally a destination shop, Oak Park Men’s Supply offers quality items from jeans and collared shirts to wallets and socks. Oak Park Men’s Supply seeks to be a one-stop shop with attire, accessories and home goods for the attentive man.

Scout Tip: Make a mental note, this is a go-to stop to shop for your favorite man. Candles, soap, and beard oil coming soon! Also, we spotted our favorite Jose Di Gregorio piece inside and it’s for sale.

What goes together better than a fresh cut and a cocktail? Bottle and Barlow offers just that.

Simply, a barbershop that has a bar and a bar that has a barbershop. That’s how Anthony Giannotti, owner of Anthony’s Barbershop, described his, Jayson Wilde and Kimio Bazett’s new hot spot when they sat down with us for a podcast interview.

The clean, modern interior of the bar sets the mood for that craft cocktail you’re about to enjoy and the barbers are ready to offer a cover for your beverage to keep the hair out. We think they’ve thought of just about everything.

Scout Tip: While Bottle and Barlow doesn’t offer food on its menu, you’re welcome to bring in food and enjoy it inside. Stop by Fish Face or Burgers and Brew before settling into Bottle and Barlow’s patio for the evening.
