If you’ve been with us from the start, you know we began our adventure on Instagram. Back when we were @cityscoutsac, we posted our scouting photos as a preview of what was to come and the local Instagram community responded with excitement. We have a soft spot for our local Instagramers so we decided to do a round-up of some of our favorite feeds from this year. Pull out your phones and get ready to add to your “following” list!
@glennleerobinson | Glenn Robinson
Glenn Robinson is a local photographer and explorer who either consistently stumbles upon beautiful destinations or has his black belt in outdoor adventure. His feed is filled with dreamy landscapes interrupted only by shots of friends that are equally as mystical. Glenn also started Hike and Shoot where he organizes hiking and photography adventures.
@stephaniecrusso| Stephanie Russo
Stephanie is a Sacramento native and Founder of Just West Co. She drops a little beauty into your day through her, either carefully curated or effortlessly perfect, feed. The downside: some of her delicious creations are only accessible if you sneak into her home (which we don’t recommend). The upside: she also shares many local spots that you can go out and enjoy immediately.
@templecoffeeroasters | Temple Coffee
Temple Coffee Roasters is arguably Sacramento’s favorite hangout. Cole Cuchna is a total boss at social media and runs the Instagram account like an empire and developed a cult following over the past 2 years, or so. Use #templecoffee for a chance to be featured or land a coveted guest Instagrammer spot.
@oak.and.ash | Jessica Miller
Jessica is a local mother of beautiful things. She’s a bit underground in the creative industry so you’ll have to seek her out if you’re looking to add a little magic to your event. Calligraphy, floral arrangments, she does it all. She’s also a mom to a precious little girl and the co-founder of @nourishsacramento.
@michaelderjabin | Michael Derjabin
Michael moved to Sacramento from Germany in 2010 and, man, are we grateful to have him. His photos are breathtaking and his adventures are inspiring. Sacramento needs more men with talent and an eye for lifestyle photography to share their stories. Until we get more, Michael is our go-to.
@efgallery | Elliott Fouts Gallery
Elliott Fouts Gallery is a midtown gallery that showcases both local and national talent and specialize in original fine art with an emphasis on landscape and still life painting. The curators at Efg Gallery are on a mission to educate their followers about Sacramento’s local arts scene and they do it well! We always look forward to seeing their West Highland terrier, Maggie, in fun gallery-related vignettes.
@styleinfurno | Samantha Furno
Samantha is the creator and editor of StyleInfurno, a fashion blog that focuses on urban looks, neutrals and minimalistic details. You’ll notice she finds her way to San Fransisco often but you’ll also see some of our favorite local spots on her feed. Keep your eye on this girl, she’s working towards creating her own fashion label.
@ashleymuirbruhn | Ashley Muir Bruhn
Ashley returned to California from New York and brought her travel and lifestyle blog, Hither and Thither, with her. Based out of Davis, she shares everything from family adventures to home cooking but her family travels are the most fun to follow. A great reference for exploring California!
@gingerelizabeth | Ginger Elizabeth Chocolates
Macarons, chocolate and ice cream, oh my! Ginger Elizabeth Chocolates is a Sacramento staple. Their fine chocolate and delicate desserts draw locals in on the regular but it’s their Instagram feed that will have you drooling at your desk and daydreaming special treats. Follow along for updates on your favorite chocolate shop!
@rorablue | Rora Blue
Rora is a 19-year-old with a passion for fashion and art. She recently created the #unsentproject, a collection of unsent text messages to first loves. This project showcases responses to the prompt: “Type your first loves name and what you would tell them if you sent them a text message. Also, include the color you think of when you think of your first love.” Fun Fact: her first collage was displayed at City Scout HQ.
@ful.filled | Bella Karragiannidis
Bella is a food blogger and photographer at Ful-Filled. Her food shots make you want to reach through your screen and taste her creations. Luckily, you can find many of the recipes on her website. Of course, you’ll also spot some local favorites!
@pebble_and_pearl | Meaghan Gonzalez
Meaghan is a local with a love for fashion and editor of Pebble and Pearl. Her feed is a mix between her fashion inspo, personal travel, and of course, food. Her dark, moody tones are contagious and the freedom she gives herself in her feed is inspiring.
@goodthompson | William Thompson
William is a self-taught photographer and Sacramento’s own Instagram celebrity. He found his way into photography about 4 years ago through the lens of his iPhone 4. He loves showing off Sacramento and we love having beautiful Sacramento views in our daily feed. If you’re new to the booming Sacramento Instagram community, @goodthompson is a must follow.
@urbanfarmstead | Kyle Hagerty
Kyle Hagerty is an urban farmer who shares produce and inspiration through his Instagram account. He lives in East Sacramento with his fiance @dailyflourish where together they created a dream home/backyard with an urban farm. On select Tuesdays, they even have a pop-up farm stand in front of their home where locals can pick up produce for free (donations go towards the farm). Kyle also writes a local guide to eating seasonally on City Scout Magazine.
@joshuahengel | Joshua Hengel
Joshua has a passion and a talent for photography and adventure. His travels are inspiring and his photos will have you feeling some mid-week jealousy. Here’s the thing — he’s a Sacramento native. These views are within your reach as well. Think of his feed as a visual bucketlist.
@mikediamond | Mike Diamond
We love the minimalistic vibe of Mike’s feed. Both in color and composition, less is more here. Another local favorite sharing daily inspiration both here in Sacramento, and elsewhere.
That’s it folks! We’ll be keeping our eyes peeling for our 2017 favorites. Use #scoutsac to stay on our radar.
